Go Chicken Go originated in 1969 in Kansas City, Kansas at 7th & Kansas Avenue by William (Bill) and Mary Hendrix. The couple operated two service stations, a Standard Oil Gas & Service Station and, across the street, a cut-rate “Go Gas” self-serve gas station. Bill & Mary developed the idea and recipe to sell fried chicken and soon the pumps were gone and “Go Gas” became “Go Chicken Go”.  In 1973, the operation moved to its current location at 59 N. 7th St. (originally a Phillips 66 Station).

Bill and Mary's three sons, Bill, Mike, and Dennis purchased the restaurant from their parents in 1985 and have built the company into what it is today.  The restaurant remains a family business with many of the family members and friends who started working for the restaurant at a young age continuing to contribute to the growth and development of the business.

The 7th Street location has been remodeled, losing the gas station look, and four new locations have been opened throughout the Greater Kansas City area.  Today Go Chicken Go has become well known for great tasting chicken, the best gizzards and livers and the mouth-watering secret hot sauce “G-Sauce”.
